Race Preview: 2023 Nürburgring 12H

It's race week in Germany and I am flying out to join Sorg Rennsport at the 12H this upcoming weekend. This weekend I am going back to my roots of FWD touring car type racing and will be behind the wheel of their BMW 128ti, the first front wheel drive BMW to win a race (BMW Group). We hope for a strong result in the VT2 FWD category.

For us in the U.S. we don't get the F40 1 Series. The 128ti is a hot hatch with a turbocharged four cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed gearbox. The engine in stock form produces 261hp and close to 300ft/lbs of torque. For many, they compared the 128ti to the famous Volkswagen Golf GTI model line.

On-track action this weekend will begin on Friday with testing/taxifahrten with Saturday morning being the first official timed qualifying. The race will begin at 03:30 local circuit time and run for six-hours. Sunday is qualifying once again followed by another six-hour race.

It will be a very large weekend with Red Bull bringing a party with their "Red Bull Formula Nürburgring." This event is bringing out big names such as Sebastian Vettel, David Coulthard, Yuki Tsunoda, Ralf Schumacher, and other big names. For the first time in many years F1 cars will hit the Nordschleife for laps. Along with the F1 stars, there will be drifting, dirtbike stunts, and much more.

Live coverage will begin on Saturday. Be sure to follow all of my social channels for videos, photos, and links to the live streams. If you're going to be in attendance, come say hi! There is an autograph session on Saturday before the grid opens where everyone can come see the cars up close.
