It's 2:00AM and I'm waiting on a Zoom call. It's one of many I have been having for months now regarding 2021 marketing strategies and potential sponsorships. It's pretty much my full time job and it's harder than ever thanks to COVID-19. It's so early because this is a global business and lately I have been working on Dubai.
So what am I doing in 2021? The year looked bright to kick off in Dubai at the Dubai 24H but the partner that seemed 100% in bailed, leaving me pretty dry, and now that seems unlikely that I'll be racing in the dessert again this year. Most businesses are playing the safe game with their funds as the new year starts to see how new politicians and also how the virus impacts us all. It makes sense but life will still go on!
Just like other years though my goal is simple: race. Unfortunately, given I am not a millionaire I can't just say what I want to race and do it. I race as a business and it has to make sense for those involved. So where I will be racing is still TBD but I can say a lot of the discussions surround the 24H Series again and potentially WRL for strategies based solely in the U.S. If I had to choose where I would race if I could just fund it out of pocket, I think it would be between 24H Series and NLS (Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie). As one of my goals is to race the Nürburgring 24H.
