The finale of the 2019 24H Series season took place in Austin, TX for the third consecutive time. This was also the final round of the Champion of the Continents championship where we lead the GT4 category. When the season started in Dubai I was shocked to be standing on the grid in the UAE and had no intentions on chasing a championship in GT4. It seemed too unrealistic for someone like me I thought. However, when Olaf crossed the line in second place in Dubai it was too goo
The penultimate round of the 24H Series Champion of the Continents championship took us to Barcelona this past weekend. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is the current Formula One track in Spain and hosts the winter test for F1. Situated in Montmeló just outside of downtown Barcelona, the circuit is nestled in a hilly region with gorgeous mountains filling the background. The circuit looks fairly straight forward on paper but demands precise driving lap after lap to get the
My next race takes us back overseas, this time to Spain, for the Barcelona 24 Hours. Home of the Spanish Grand Prix, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is a 4.627 km circuit nestled outside of Barcelona. This is the penultimate round of the 24H Series Champion of the Continents championship and the finale for the European Championship. After our last lap second place finish in Dubai, our Sorg Rennsport BMW M4 GT4 is in a good spot with points to continue our chase for the cha
The World Racing League visited Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on July 13-14 for the classic Peachtree Grand Prix. As always, I was driving the #213 Casey Carden Motorsports Mazda MX-5 with Jason Workman, Hunter Cestoni, and Erick Melton. We were in good shape for the weekend and had high expectations. We started the weekend with a short test session on Friday to just shake the car down and ensure things felt good for Saturday. We were all happy with the car, so the team moved
After what felt like a long break we're back on track this upcoming weekend at Road Atlanta. The World Racing League returns to the classic north Georgia based road course which is our home track. With thousands of laps between our driver lineup we are in good shape to be competitive throughout the weekend. As always I'll be sharing the #213 Mazda with Jason Workman, Hunter Cestoni, and Erick Melton. Heat will be the name of the game with summer in full swing here in the sout
We head to Barber Motorsports Park outside of Birmingham, AL this weekend for the first round of the World Racing League 2019 season. I'll be once again driving with Casey Carden Motorsports in their Mazda MX-5, which won the class championship in 2018. We have a killer lineup of drivers this weekend and will have a good shot at a podium each day. Saturday is a nine-hour race followed by a seven-hour on Sunday. There is free admission if you're in the area, be sure to come ou
My final race of the year was at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas. I was lucky to join Sorg Rennsport again in their BMW M235I Racing Cup car competing in the Cup 1 class within the Creventic 24H Series. Our weekend started on Thursday where the team finished up some prep work and we decided to opt out of the optional test. However, with permission from the series, the team asked me to go out for the final twenty-minutes of the optional free test to shake the car d
July always marks the return to Road Atlanta of the Sports Car Club of America for the South Atlantic Road Racing Championship (SARRC) series. I would have a chance to take a break from the usual endurance racing and run a double sprint race weekend in the same Mazda MX-5 that I race in the World Racing League and the American Endurance Racing series. While I am passionate about endurance racing, sprint racing is always a fun challenge. Instead of driving with conservation in
Daytona International Speedway is well known for NASCAR but to sports car fans it’s known for the 24 Hours held every January, currently called the Rolex 24 thanks to Rolex’s long term partnership. This weekend however we ventured to the Florida speedway to race in the World Racing League’s “Concorso Daytona 14 Hours.” I'd be driving the #213 Casey Carden Motorsports Mazda MX-5. The WRL weekend is unique in that we don’t have any practice or qualifying. Friday is purely a tec
Well, the 2018 Classic Motorsports The Mitty is now past and won’t be remembered as one of the best weekends for us. Things started off Friday for us with practice and qualifying sessions. I was driving the new to Casey Carden Motorsports #213 Mazda MX-5. The first was cut very short with only one or two laps before the black flag came out for oil on the race track. The second session ended short as well as we needed to make some adjustments to the car so we ended the day wit
My last race was at Mid-Ohio with the American Endurance Racing series. Having never been to this circuit I was excited to be going having grown up watching many SCCA Runoffs and professional races there on television. It always struck me as a cool old school style track and I was not disappointed. Friday was a practice and qualifying day, something I very much welcomed after Daytona and Barber where it was just hop in and race, no practice. I was up to speed quickly and star
My next race of the 2017 season is October 20-22 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Once again I'll be driving one of the Casey Carden Motorsports Mazda Miatas in the American Endurance Racing series. The weekend kicks off with practice and qualifying on Friday before two days of endurance racing on Saturday and Sunday. #aer #midohio #scca #mazda #miata #simontibbett #sports
The World Racing League visited the stunning Barber Motorsports Park for the U.S. Sports Car Showdown and boy was it hot. Once again I had the pleasure of driving for Casey Carden Motorsports in one of their Mazda Miatas in the GP3 class. Saturday morning came and it was humid and hot early on. I was going to start the race and having never raced at Barber before, I had stayed up watching some in-car video and ran iRacing the week leading up. The green flag came and I slowly
So the 2017 Concorso Daytona 14 Hours is a wrap. The World Racing League put on a great event with some very clean racing, with that said our race wasn’t as smooth. The green flag flew at 8am Saturday morning and being a WRL event they have no qualifying or practice, so if you have never been to the track your only experience is from videos, simulators, and asking for advice. I fell into that category and also had the honor of starting the car! No complaints though, I’m alway
My season started off February 10-12 at Road Atlanta with the American Endurance Racing series. I was driving the #78 Casey Carden Motorsports Mazda Miata. One cool bit about this car is the team finished it the night before the official practice/qualifying day! In fact two weeks before the race it was barely a car let alone a race car. Saturday's nine hour race went fairly trouble free. The only time the car went behind the wall was for a precautionary fluid check. Otherwise
